Strayer University is a for-profit higher education institution. It was founded in 1892 as Strayer's Business College and later became Strayer College, before being granted university status in 1998.Strayer University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Its tuition and fees are $15,495 (2013-14).

Strayer university provides diploma, certificate, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs in an array of subjects. The university specializes in degree programs for working adults and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in subjects such as accounting, business administration, criminal justice, education, health services administration, information technology and public administration. The university enrolls about 40,000 students through its online learning programs, and at 80 campuses located in 24 U.S. states.

The main mission of Strayer University is to provide higher education to working adult students. The courses offered by the university are practical and business-focused, including courses in business administration and information technology.

Admissions and Financial Aid 
The admissions requirement for undergraduate degree programs at Strayer University is a high school diploma or its equivalent. Applicants for graduate degree programs other than the Executive MBA program are required to have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college. They must also meet at least one of the following criteria to be accepted into a graduate degree program: minimum 2.75 undergraduate GPA during their junior and senior years; minimum score of 450 on the GMAT; minimum score of 1000 on the GRE; or demonstrate they are of “graduate potential.”
